South Mountain Community College

Started in 1978, South Mountain Community College provides education to students in the rural, urban and suburban neighborhoods of Maricopa County. Based in Phoenix, Ariz., it also caters to south Phoenix, Laveen, Tempe, Guadalupe and Ahwatukee areas. The college offers degree and certificate programs in various subjects, including business, information technology, communications, fine arts, social sciences, counseling, health and wellness, language arts, teaching, mathematics, science and engineering. South Mountain Community College has a bookstore, cafeteria, cyber caf , learning assistance center and wireless center. Its disability resources include making the disabled independent, self-sufficient, and developing academic and personal skills.
